Mündungsblitzsensor Serie 600 (Muzzle Flash Sensor Series 600)
Optical muzzle flash sensor for rate-of-fire capture on fully automatic weapons as well as start/stop pulse generator for measurement chains — MFS 607 (available), MFS 608 (no longer available).
Description
The Muzzle Flash Sensor of the Series 600 optically captures the muzzle flash during firing and provides a precise electrical signal for downstream measurement chains. The series comprises two models with different evaluation architectures: the currently available MFS 607 and the MFS 608, which is no longer available.

Both sensors operate optically in the spectral range 600 – 1,050 nm with a field of view of 7.5° and deliver an output pulse of +10 to +12 V with a rise time > 50 V/µs. Maximum rate of fire: 10,000 rounds/min.
Model variants
MFS 607 — currently available

The Muzzle Flash Sensor 607 is used mainly for capturing the rate of fire of fully automatic weapons. It can also serve as a start pulse generator for short-duration photography or as a stop pulse generator for gas pressure measurement. The trigger threshold can be adjusted on the rear panel. This device is used together with the IMS 8500.
MFS 608 — no longer available

The Muzzle Flash Sensor 608 (no longer available) is likewise used for capturing the rate of fire of fully automatic weapons. It features an integrated microcontroller for data evaluation. The data is provided at a serial interface. This device can be connected directly to a PC via the Power Interface 4044. Result processing is handled by software, and the trigger threshold is software-adjustable.
Evaluation software

The modular software supports multiple measurement channels. These can be combined from different measurement types such as gas pressure measurement, velocity measurement, rate-of-fire measurement or non-material target pattern plates.

Note: The MFS 608 is no longer available. The data is listed for completeness.
