Optische Sensoren Serie 610 (Optical Sensors Series 610)
Optical sensors for testing ballistic events — OS 615 detects fuze running times of explosive projectiles up to 5 km, OS 616 measures the delay of tandem ammunition against reactive armor.
Description
The Optical Sensors of the Series 610 capture ballistic events optically and in real time. They are used in ammunition and fuze testing, where detonation timing and delay time must be precisely evaluated. The IMS 8510 captures the sensor signals and prepares them for evaluation.

Both sensors deliver a +12 V digital pulse and a +12 V analog output in parallel and operate at an operating voltage of +12 V to +15 V with around 50 mA current consumption — ready for direct connection to common ballistic measurement systems.
Model variants

OS 615 — Fuze running time
The Sensor 615 is used to verify the fuze running time of explosive projectiles. Under good visibility conditions it detects an explosion flash, comparable to a photo flash of guide number 45, at a distance of up to 5 km. The field of view is 4° and the sensitivity can be variably adjusted.

OS 616 — Tandem ammunition
The Sensor 616 is used for verifying tandem ammunition against reactive armor. It measures the delay between the ignition of the first and second charge. The sensor operates with a field of view < 4° at typical measurement distances of 30 m to 100 m and offers three fixed sensitivity levels.

Evaluation with IMS 8510
Both sensors can be combined with the Intelligent Measurement System IMS 8500 and the Velocity Computer 4043; for tandem evaluation, the IMS 8510 is additionally used, which digitally captures the signals and makes them available for further processing.
